The quality of life in the Spina Bifida population has evolved over the years. Brandi discusses the diagnosis of Spina Bifida, the challenges patients face in their everyday life, common medical interventions and much more.

Guest Bio
Brandi Capps, BSN, RN has served as the Duke Pediatric Uro Therapy Nurse Clinician for nine years. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Brandi has worked at Duke for 19 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She currently runs all the Urodynamic and Biofeedback studies for Duke Pediatric Urology. She has been a PUNS member for nine years and is part of the urodynamics special interest group. She works with spina bifida patients and their families to teach urinary catheterization. She also trains the patients on Peristeen® and cone enema systems for their bowel management program. Brandi also manages or teaches the spina bifida patients after mitrofanoff and /or MACE surgeries on postoperative care and how to catheterize their stomas.
