Mike is a 57 year old double ostomate, as a result of a stage 4 colon rectal cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2008. Mike has been married to his wife. Patty, for 27 years, and they have two sons. Mike recently retired and spends his free time golfing, playing tennis, biking and traveling. Mike and his wife are actively involved in fundraising for colon cancer research through the MKCCR foundation. Mike also speaks to groups regarding living with ostomies and volunteers with cancer patients to help them deal with the cancer journey, including the effects of surgery, chemo and radiation.
